partnering with carbondivest.org

Let us handle the details for you. Make a donation to CarbonDivest and  you will enable an Indigenous community to conserve their rainforest.

WHAT A CARBON FOOTPRINT IS AND HOW YOU CAN HELP REDUCE IT.

People and businesses release Carbon Dioxide into our atmosphere by using fossil fuels through their everyday activities. A carbon footprint is created when our activities destroy oxygen and replace it with carbon.

When extensive forests are destroyed, we also lose a part of the natural filtration system that creates breathable oxygen. The result of this process is the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Effect. Gases accumulate, heat our planet, and reduce the clean air. All of this leads to climate change.

THE GREAT NEWS IS that there are steps you can take right now to help. When you support our Green Projects, you will immediately help create the greenspaces needed to preserve the air we breathe today and will leave for future generations. Having just one person joining us through financial donations produces the same result as taking two cars off the road.

BUSINESS LEADERS: YOU can lead your business in thinking green and helping the environment through showing how YOU are supporting these conservation and blue carbon projects..

Your first step toward being part of the green movement is to realize that you have a carbon footprint and ways you can adjust your lifestyle to eliminate or reduce that footprint. Your next step will be to choose a carbon reduction project to partner with immediately. These are found in our Projects Section. As more people sponsor these projects, the Project list will continue to grow. Together we will contribute to meaningful global and local impacts.

You can do something right now and it is going to have a real impact on our world!

UNDERSTANDING HOW IT WORKS

Cutting Carbon Emissions before we reach the year 2030 by about 45% from the recorded level in 2010 will keep the global climate within more acceptable ranges. - per Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

While other websites go into the deep science of all the parts on how and why everyone needs to participate in the move to stop climate change - we will break it down into a simple answer. We understand that not everyone is a trained scientist, but every one of us needs to be aware of the situation we are facing and what we can do to restore the health of our planet and sustain it for our future generations.

There is still time to stop and even reverse the effects of what is already affecting our planet.

Industries are becoming more aware of the need to change their sources of energy by incorporating new technologies that will allow for cleaner business practices. Many are offsetting their carbon footprint through supporting Green Projects while they make these changes to their own business.

Individuals can also affect the mitigation of climate change by supporting Conservation and Blue Carbon Projects that promote the conservation and preservation of natural forests, wetlands, mangroves, and renewable energy sources.

By supporting CarbonDivest.org projects you enable Indigenous communities globally to conserve and nurture the forests on their owned lands both now and through their future generations. We provide them with food, potable water, educational assistance, medical resources, sustainable projects, and the ability to monitor the lands through high tech so that they can contact the legal authorities if they see any illegal activity occurring on their lands. By providing in these areas, it affords the Indigenous communities the ability to keep the forests and not have to be pressured into deforestation to provide temporary relief from poverty.

Trees reduce and remove the GHG from our atmosphere by trapping these emissions and then the trees release and replace clean oxygen into the air. This is why these magnificent forests have been called "The Lungs of Our Planet". Rather than cutting forests down, we need to keep them growing. We need to replace tree growth in areas that deforestation has occurred with trees that are native to that area. The more mature the tree is the more dense oxygen amounts that are released. So

Companies and countries must commit to ambitious decarbonization plans that align with the Paris Climate Accord.

Donating Made Easy: supporting a CarbonDivest.org Project

Forest Conservation Projects and Blue Carbon Projects that can certify their ability to reduce, remove or store GHG can then sell or trade a carbon credit for each metric ton of Carbon Dioxide or equivalent GHG prevented or absorbed to businesses or individuals who are wanting to offset their negative emissions. An example of this would be through the certification of carbon emissions absorbed through an acre of forested land in tons of oxygen, This is then introduced to businesses that can voluntarily purchase or trade these as offsets.

The voluntary market allows you and businesses to participate by funding environment-friendly projects that work to establish carbon neutrality and in that way stop climate change from developing further negative effects on our planet. It allows businesses to comply with legal frameworks to bring their companies into a net-zero commitment arrangement as they continue to make the changes toward becoming fully environment friendly.

The main point to remember: Financial donations to balance GHG emissions will generate the much-needed funding for the projects that are working to mitigate climate change.

CarbonDivest.org has established 30-year contracts with 88 communities in Latin America and we are actively negotiating with others in various other countries as well. We work directly with Indigenous leaders to get their forested lands validated and certified so that they can benefit from the voluntary carbon offset market. In this way, they are able to afford to preserve their forests and to assist their own communities to move forward without the socio-economic restrictions that force them to turn to the offers for deforesting these lands.

We are working toward setting up Cap-and-Trade Agreements between the Indigenous Leaders and the Lawmakers of these countries. The framework would help to establish a socio-economic impact on these indigenous communities in an ongoing manner. It will strengthen their ability to hold onto their cultures while they coexist in our modern world without losing their traditional values and heritage.
